Angel Moroni - 1971 - Working Model

The working model of the “Angel Moroni” was created by Avard T. Fairbanks, Ph.D., Sculptor, in 1971.  The working model of the Angel Moroni is 24 inches tall cast in bronze.  It was originally made for enlargement of the colossal statue to be erected on the central spire of the Washington D.C. Temple for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. 

This 18-foot-tall colossal gold-plated bronze statue is currently mounted on the top of the central spire of the temple.  Smaller 15-foot-tall versions have been placed on three other temples. 

Castings of the working model of the Angel Moroni can be made available for purchase in bronze.

    • All reproduced sculptured works of Avard T. Fairbanks are postmortem. 
    • The mediums are Bronze, cast Stone, Marble, or Resin.  Produced from the sculptor’s original model, each bronze casting is professionally produced and followed throughout the casting process by one of Avard T. Fairbanks’ original assistants (his son). 
    • This includes retouching the wax, chasing the bronze, and selecting the patina to ensure that each piece is of museum collectable quality.
