Aphrodite by Avard T. Fairbank M.D.

This is a painting copy by Grant R. Fairbanks M.D. in 2024 of a marble statue by Avard T. Fairbanks.  This represents a classic figure study created early in his career by Avard and is a bronze casting of the working model.  A life-size marble carving was made by the sculptor and was commissioned for the Washburn Gardens in Eugene, Oregon.  It resides at the head of a pool, and the shell is supported by two dolphins.  It has water spouts that also adorn the statue.  The statue is the classic motif of Venus arriving on the shores of Cyprus, transported by two dolphins, and when the shell opens, she is fully formed. 

Bronze castings of the working model statue are available, both on the shell or the figure alone, for purchase by interested parties.

  • Artwork Medium = Giclée Art Prints

    • Copies of the original artworks are available for purchase as Giclees – a color copy on canvas.  Although a Giclee lacks the surface texture of the original oil painting, when framed, and on the wall, it will appear to be identical.  High-quality reproductions of museum-quality will last almost indefinitely without significant fading.
    • Original oil paintings may be obtained by commission from the artist; however, due to time and effort required, they come at a significantly higher cost than the Giclee.

Accurate reproductions of original sculptures by Avard T. Fairbanks, Ph.D., sculptor, are made available through New Dedham Art.  All rights to the artwork offered are held by Grant R. Fairbanks, M.D., founder of New Dedham Art.  Although there are some artworks immediately available, most will have to undergo the reproduction process which can take time – more for sculpture, less in the case of paintings.

 

PAYMENT:

  1. One-half down/deposit required upon ordering an example of genuine artwork.
    The remaining balance is due upon delivery of the completed work.

  2. Method of Payments:

    • Cashier’s Check

    • Cash

    • Venmo 

Credit Cards are not currently acceptable form of payment for artworks.

  • If one does not have sufficient money available, but still desires to purchase an artwork, one can take out a loan from their bank or credit union.

 

TIMELINE TO PRODUCE ARTWORKS:

  1. Painting Reproduction (Giclee - Color Copy on Canvas) - Two Weeks Required, sometimes less time

  2. Sculpture Reproduction in Bronze – 6 Months Required, sometimes less/more

  3. Sculpture Reproduction in Cast Stone – 2 Months Required 

  4. Sculpture Reproduction in carved Carrara Marble in Italy – One Year minimum required, sometimes more time required.
