Colt Pegasus

The Pegasus statue of a winged horse alighting from a cloud was first created by Avard T. Fairbanks for the Dodge-Wilson Estate, now Meadow Brook Hall of Oakland University, Rochester, Michigan.  Matilda Wilson commissioned Avard Fairbanks, Professor of Sculpture at the University of Michigan to create a colt with wings arising from a cloud.  This became the central focus of a large decorative pool adjacent to the building with a number of vertical spouts around the statue spraying water.  This was the last statue created by Avard T. Fairbanks before he moved to Utah to accept the position of Dean of the College of Fine Arts in 1947.  The original plaster model of the Colt Pegasus has been lost, and no castings of this work are available.
