Dodge Ram Hood Ornament
When Walter B. Chrysler purchased the well-established Dodge line of motor vehicles, he wished to dress up the Dodge car with a special radiator hood ornament.
He called on Avard T. Fairbanks again to come to Detroit with his ideas. Mr. Chrysler said, “Well, Fairbanks, what do you think we should put on the Dodge?” Avard Fairbanks said, “I think the Ram would go well on the Dodge, Mr. Chrysler.” He had made models of a charging Ram in red wax on radiator ornament caps to show Mr. Chrysler. Mr. Chrysler asked him, “And why is that?” Avard responded, “Well, you see, the Ram is the King of the Trail, and when people see the Ram, they’ll DODGE!” Mr. Chrysler replied, “That’s it! Ram goes on the Dodge!”
The Ram has been there ever since.

- The mediums are Bronze, cast Stone, Marble, or Resin. Produced from the sculptor’s original model, each bronze casting is professionally produced and followed throughout the casting process by one of Avard T. Fairbanks’ original assistants (his son).
- This includes retouching the wax, chasing the bronze, and selecting the patina to ensure that each piece is of museum collectable quality.
