Grant R. Fairbanks Self Portrait
This self-portrait by Grant R. Fairbanks, M.D. in oil was made from a photograph at the time of the height of his career in the 1980s as a practicing plastic surgeon who had served as Visiting Professor and Keynote Speaker in multiple locations, including Russia, Germany, England, Taiwan, Canada, and the U.S.
He is Board Certified in both General Surgery and Plastic Surgery. He was Battalion Surgeon for the 110th Artillery, Maryland National Guard, during his general surgery residency at the University of Michigan in Baltimore. During his Plastic Surgery Residency at the University of Michigan, he served an off-campus assignment for two months as Plastic Surgeon aboard the U.S. Hospital Ship Hope in Tunis, Tunisia. After serving as Associate Professor of Surgery at the University of Cincinnati, he moved to Utah and became an adjunct Professor of Surgery at the University of Utah.
