Rasputin was the evil monk who was able to gain the confidence and favor of Alexandra, wife of Tsar Nicholas of Russia and claimed he could cure the hemophilia, an inherited illness, of their son. He did much to damage the Russian Monarchy. He was eventually assassinated.
