Helle & Phryxis andThe Golden Fleece - 1939
$25,000.00Price
The Golden Fleece created in 1939 is one of only a few statues in which the main theme of the statue is riding on a cloud; the other is Pegasus. In this statue, there are two children, male and female, astride the back of a ram. The theme is out of Greek Mythology – Helle & Phrixus and the Golden Fleece.
Helle is falling off the back of the ram, and where she fell is now called The Hellespont. It was created in 1939 by Avard T. Fairbanks, PhD., during the Michigan period. The sculptor had already created the Ram for the Dodge automobile at the request of Walter P. Chrysler.
A full-size bronze casting can be made available for purchase.
