Life-Sized Head of Jesus Christ

Life-Sized Head of Jesus Christ

$0.00Price

This represents a classic undated work by Avard T. Fairbanks, sculptor, of a moving portrait of Jesus Christ in contemplation.  It reflects much of the feeling that people have when they think of Jesus Christ, his life, and his works.  The sculptor originally created a colossal head of Jesus Christ which he intended to be for a statue of Jesus Christ for Jerusalem.

However, the colossal head of Jesus was destroyed.  It was on loan for an exhibit a building in downtown Salt Lake City.  Unfortunately, the original plaster cast was left there for too long, and someone, unthinkingly, broke it up with a hammer, we were told, in order to move it out, and the broken pieces were hauled off to the dump.  This is, unfortunately, the fate of too many valuable works of art.

The existing remaining life-size head in a much different posture/expression can be made available in a postmortem bronze casting.
