Liger - 1948

$0.00Price

In 1947, a historic mating was accomplished at The Hogle Zoological Gardens in Salt Lake City between a lion and a tiger, creating a hybrid large feline which they dubbed “The Liger.”  Hybrid species are generally sterile, but sometimes viable.  A mule is a common example of a viable hybrid between a horse and a donkey.

As this was a historic combination, Avard T. Fairbanks created a sculptured model from life of “The Liger” in 1948.

Copies of this small model can be made available in bronze or in cast resin.
