Lincoln the President Colossal Head Statue (Small Model)

Avard T. Fairbanks, Ph.D., sculptor, created two colossal portrait busts of the bearded Abraham Lincoln as President. The first was sculpted in 1960; the plaster was shipped to Pietrasanta, Italy, where it was carved in marble. Although the initial block carving was performed by Italian artisans, the final carving was performed by Avard T. Fairbanks in Italy.
 
This marble carving currently resides in the Nation’s Capitol Building in Washington, D.C. This particular head is in the full round; it can be cast in bronze, resin and cast stone.
