Mona Lisa
(copy by Grant R. Fairbanks) – The portrait of Lisa del Giocondo, commissioned by her husband who was a silk merchant in Florence, Italy, was never delivered by the artist, Leonardo da Vinci. He worked on the Mona Lisa for 14 years. It was with him at the time of his death. It has approximately 21 layers of paint which gives it the depth of perception, and it also has the slightly asymmetrical smile for which it is famous.
