This is the smaller 11 inch version. In its full size, it is 36 inches in diameter. This dramatic relief sculpture demonstrates a wagon traversing difficult terrain with oxen and a hardy pioneer at the side.
Sitting in the wagon is a mother and infant. This large relief in bronze a number of key points along the Oregon Trail, ending at Baker, Oregon. It also found its way onto a United States postage stamp, and it became the symbol of Pioneer High School in Ann Arbor, Michigan.
This is a smaller example of the Old Oregon Trail plaque, also bronze, is 11 inches in diameter. Both can be made available in bronze castings.
