The Panther - 1906
$0.00Price
This larger early animal sculpture demonstrates a large cat (panther) in a relaxed posture on a rectangular base. It was created by Avard T. Fairbanks in 1909 when he was 12 years of age. He was already recognized as a child prodigy, having created a lion in clay directly from an animal in the Bronx Zoo in New York City, a photograph of which was published in the New York Times as “Child Sculptor.” The Panther preceded The Lion by one year.
A casting of The Panther in bronze or resin can be made available for purchase by interested parties.
