Pele - 1974

$8,000.00Price

Pele is the last of the mythical figure studies to be created by the sculptor.  Pele was created in 1974 and was in the clay (plasteline) when the sculptor, Avard T. Fairbanks, PhD. died in 1987.

It was subsequently rescued, restored, and cast in bronze.  It is a figure study which is anatomically correct but not made directly from the nude model.  As Avard T. Fairbanks’ doctoral degree was in anatomic design, this clearly represents ideal proportions of human anatomy in a swirling motion of flame.

A bronze casting can be made available for purchase.

  • Artwork Medium

    • All reproduced sculptured works of Avard T. Fairbanks are postmortem.
    • The mediums are Bronze, cast Stone, Marble, or Resin.  Produced from the sculptor’s original model, each bronze casting is professionally produced and followed throughout the casting process by one of Avard T. Fairbanks’ original assistants (his son).
    • This includes retouching the wax, chasing the bronze, and selecting the patina to ensure that each piece is of museum collectable quality.
