Phoenician Cargo Ship
$0.00Price
This is a pen & ink drawing and watercolor painting done by Grant R. Fairbanks at age 8. It is a copy of a painting by Gordon Grant, prominent ship artist, in his book entitled, “Ships Under Sail.” The Phoenicians were early mariners who sailed the Mediterranean and beyond with both cargo and galley ships. Because of their commercial interests, they needed written records; therefore, the Phoenicians developed a phonetic alphabet from which our alphabet eventually evolved.
The painting depicts a single-sail cargo vessel guided by a single large steering oar on one side.
Artwork Medium = Giclée Art Prints
- Copies of the original artworks are available for purchase as Giclees – a color copy on canvas. Although a Giclee lacks the surface texture of the original oil painting, when framed, and on the wall, it will appear to be identical. High-quality reproductions of museum-quality will last almost indefinitely without significant fading.
- Original oil paintings may be obtained by commission from the artist; however, due to time and effort required, they come at a significantly higher cost than the Giclee.
