Plymouth Hood Ornament

Plymouth Hood Ornament

$0.00Price

The Plymouth was the first car to use rubber engine mounts which considerably decreased the amount of vibration to the passengers in the automobile.

This innovation was called “Floating Power.”  A winged mermaid leading with her bosom was chosen by Walter Chrysler to depict this title of Floating Power.  It was later replaced with the emblem of a sailing ship.

However, multiple other automobile companies copied the idea of Avard T. Fairbanks using a winged female figure leading with her breasts.  This includes Cadillac, Desoto, and Auburn, to name a few.

Copies of these radiator ornaments cast in bronze and chrome plated are made available for purchase.
