This particular child-animal study was made for an orthodontist in exchange for dental work on Avard’s Fairbanks’ family. It demonstrates his daughter and her Scotch Terrier dog in a very charming and attractive piece of art.
This is one of the favorite childhood statues by Avard T. Fairbanks displaying a young girl with her doggie companion. It was created in 1934 while the sculptor was teaching sculpture at the University of Michigan. Bronze postmortem castings of this work can be made available for purchase.
