Avard T. Fairbanks, Ph.D., sculptor, created two colossal portrait busts of the bearded Abraham Lincoln as President.
The first was sculpted in 1960; the plaster was shipped to Pietrasanta, Italy, where it was carved in marble. Although the initial block carving was performed by Italian artisans, the final carving was performed by Avard T. Fairbanks in Italy. This marble carving currently resides in the Nation’s Capitol Building in Washington, D.C.
This particular head is in the full round; it can be cast in bronze and made available for purchase.

- All reproduced sculptured works of Avard T. Fairbanks are postmortem.
- The mediums are Bronze, cast Stone, Marble, or Resin. Produced from the sculptor’s original model, each bronze casting is professionally produced and followed throughout the casting process by one of Avard T. Fairbanks’ original assistants (his son).
- This includes retouching the wax, chasing the bronze, and selecting the patina to ensure that each piece is of museum collectable quality.
