Restoration of the Aaronic Priesthood
Avard T. Fairbanks, Ph.D., Sculptor, was commissioned by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints (Mormon) to commemorate the restoration of the Aaronic Priesthood.
This statue commemorates an occurrence of occurred on May 15, 1829, on the banks of the Susquehanna River in Harmony, Pennsylvania. The statue demonstrates John the Baptist with one hand on the head of Joseph Smith and the other on the head of Oliver Cowdery.
The bronze statue is located on Temple Square in Salt Lake City, and another heroic-size is located on the banks of the Susquehanna River where the event occurred, in Oakland Township, Pennsylvania. The small working model is not currently available, but a large model measuring 91” H 64” W 10” D can be cast in bronze for interested parties.
This heroic size statue of the monument is not reproducible, therefore it is not for sale. We are showing this artwork of Avard T. Fairbanks as a gallery exbibit.
A smaller version is available both in a high relief or in a full round, this is shown in the second picture.
