Shell Boy - 1933 - Bronze
$20,000.00Price
The Shell Boy statue was modeled from life using a pre-adolescent male youth as the model. He is holding a large shell which, when cast in bronze, becomes the centerpiece of a working fountain. Properly plumbed, it will provide rivulets of water flowing from each undulation of the shell. It was created in 1933.
Multiple castings were made during the sculptor’s lifetime, one of which is in the Brookgreen Gardens, national sculpture gardens. The Shell Boy won the Gold Medal at the North American Flower Show in Detroit, Michigan, in 1936.
A postmortem life-size casting can be made available for purchase.
