Snow Boy Bronze Statue - 1934
This delightful depiction of a child in winter garb was created by Avard T. Fairbanks, Ph.D., Sculptor, when he was Professor of Sculpture at the University of Michigan. The model was his sixth son, Jonathan L. Fairbanks. Michigan winters are characteristically long, cold, and with deep snow.
The snowsuit combined with mittens, galoshes over shoes, and close-fitting snowcap was the style of the time and provided warmth and comfort for the child in the outdoor environment of Michigan Winters. Michigan had frequent snowfalls. The snow was soft, fluffy, and 6-8 inches deep. It was packed easily into snowballs. The figure is holding a snowball.
This is a life-size statue that can be made available cast in bronze or resin for interested parties.
