Walden Pond
This is an oil painting made by Grant R. Fairbanks, M.D. as a result of his trip to Walden Pond in Concord, Massachusetts, with his brother, Jonathan, who was Curator of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, at the time and served in that capacity for over 28 years. Walden Pond is a serene lake as demonstrated by the reflection of the opposite shoreline.
It is famous for the book which takes its name by Henry David Thoreau, who spent over two years (1845-47) as a simple-living experiment in a cabin by the lakeside, which was owned by his mentor, Ralph Waldo Emerson. His time in the woods resulted in the 1854 publication of Walden. The book is a blend of philosophical musings and meticulous observations of the pond's ecosystem, advocating for intentional living and a deep respect for the natural world.

Artwork Medium = Giclée Art Prints
- Copies of the original artworks are available for purchase as Giclees – a color copy on canvas. Although a Giclee lacks the surface texture of the original oil painting, when framed, and on the wall, it will appear to be identical. High-quality reproductions of museum-quality will last almost indefinitely without significant fading.
- Original oil paintings may be obtained by commission from the artist; however, due to time and effort required, they come at a significantly higher cost than the Giclee.
