Young Hiawatha and Father Bronze Statue
Among Avard T. Fairbanks’ early works, a number of the themes were of Native Americans. This early work, created when Avard Fairbanks was 14 or 15, depicts the youthful Hiawatha standing by his seated father.
The sculptor, as a boy, also made low reliefs of Hiawatha and his mother, Nacomus, as well as Hiawatha with a variety of animals. His interest in Native American culture continued which resulted in a number of small works, as well as two major works, including Ute Brave on University of Utah Campus, and the Sioux Warrior for University of North Dakota.
The small model of Hiawatha and his father can be made available in bronze or resin casting.
